14th October 2019 – Highway or Jalan Kampong?

Hello everyone! I’m Salih, the TME, and this is the report for 14th October’s meeting.

The word of the day was “Amenable”. Its definition is: open and responsive to suggestions. An example of its use would be: “We hope that all of the audience were amenable to the feedbacks given during the meeting.

The thought of the day given was “Life is not just the highway, sometimes you will have to drive along the jalan kampong too”. We have targets or goals that we set to achieve in life. A destination at the end of the highway but the journey would be boring if we don’t take a few detours in life to try new things, take up new hobbies and make new memories. They don’t have to be related to your destination but they will add a bit of variety into your life.

For the Table Topics session, the theme set by the Table Topics Master was “Would You Rather”. In the end, Rueben Chin won the Best Table Topics Speaker ribbon. He spoke on the topic “Would you rather have the ability to pause time or rewind time?” He rather have the ability to rewind time so he can redo certain things in life.

Moving on to the Prepared Speeches session, the first speaker was Ari Jeffry, IP1 attempting the L2P1: Understanding Your Leadership Style with a speech titled “Being A Leader”. Ari learned that his preferred leader style is democratic. He didn’t find it surprising as he shared his past experience as the leader of a sports event.

The second speaker was Adibah Abd Kadir, VC1 who is also attempting the L2P1: Understanding Your Leadership Style with a speech titled “Miss HSE”. She brought us along with her into the life of the head of the Health, Safety and Environment unit of the PMUBD. The actions she taken and how it reflected on her leadership styles.
